- GOLD COUNTRY FAIRGROUNDS -

Free Admission - Free Parking

4 pm 'till dark

Searching for an old-fashioned family 4th of July celebration? Look no further. The Greater Auburn Community has worked hard to bring our friends, neighbors and visitors an inexpensive 4th of July celebration. Bring a picnic spread and plan to spend the late afternoon and evening here at home in Auburn. Admission, parking, entertainment and kids games are free. Because it is a Friday, Fast Fridays will be charging normal admision this year.

The celebration kicks-off at the fairgrounds' Gold Country Stage at 4 pm as Auburn Pageants holds the annual Little Miss and Mister 4th of July Pageant. Winners receive an award and U.S. Savings Bond courtesy of Granite Community Bank. If your child would like to participate an entry application is available here. There is no entry fee. The participants will then ride in the parade later in the day.

Meanwhile food, craft and recreational vendors and booths will already be in place presenting items for sale. Area service clubs and commercial vendors will be offering a medley of mouth watering treats -- hot off the grill or straight from the cooler. A variety of children's activities will be available including climbing walls, bounce houses and gyro rides. Free kids games will be held in Farrell Wrenn Park throughout the afternoon.

Free entertainment is scheduled from the Gold Country Stage including the Stardust Cowboys. Because Independence Day falls on a Friday, the normaladmission fee will be charged We've even included a few surprises to be had just before the fireworks light off as the music dies down and the skies darken.

The parade start time is to 7 pm and follows the traditional route beginning near the Chamber's historic railroad depot on upper Lincoln Way, through Central Square, proceed down High Street then turn into and through the fairgrounds. (View parade route). This year's theme is "Pride In America." The Grand Marshal will be shared by active duty members of each branch of the military. The fairgrounds should prove to be a great vantage point to view the parade and listen to the commentary describing the entrants by Wayne Manning. The expected arrival is right around 7:18 pm. If your group or organization would like to enter the parade an application is available here. There is a $10 entry fee if you pre-register by the end of the business day on Wednesday, June 25. (Waived for Veterans groups). After June 25 the entry fee increases to $20. Six area Lions Clubs will be producing the parade. Additional information about the Lions parade can be found at here.
